I’ve been looking forward to seeing this completed project, in South Glos. The project was for a single storey rear extension, which would open up the cramped kitchen and dining space into one big, spacious, comfortable kitchen, dining and family space. One of the owners runs her own business ( https://www.facebook.com/pg/Danderoar-Designs-296512510385430/about/?ref=page_internal) creating original, one off, hand painted keepsakes, and I knew her fantastic artistic eye and attention to detail would be put to use decorating and styling the extension… and I wasn’t disappointed!
The extension stretches across the back of the house, and enlarged a relatively small and cramped kitchen, and an under used dining room, into one large space. An existing conservatory was removed, so this new extension has not resulted in the loss of any garden space.
A large island in the kitchen creates a focal and social point to the house, and helps zone the large space.
Large bi folds open the room into the garden, and brings in light, as do three sizeable rooflights.
An existing recess has provided a comfortable snug space, with a perfectly sized corner sofa to fit it! The owners have used feature furniture and accessories to give personality and pops of colour, and large scale mirrors and artwork suit the large expanses of wall available.
ACHD designed and sought planning and building control permissions, and the extension was built to a high standard by local builder Edd Buckland, who has built three other extensions I have designed.
