We were delighted to design, source and dress 9 bedrooms and bathrooms at Coombe Lodge, Blagdon, a popular wedding venue in Somerset. This beautiful building, designed by Sir George Oatley, architect of the Wills Memorial Building in Bristol, was built for the Wills family, but most recently had been used as a local authority training centre. It was looking very unloved before being taken over by the team at Coombe Lodge, who have transformed it into one of the area’s premium wedding venues.
With the ground floor facilities up and running, it was time to look at providing some accommodation in the upstairs bedrooms. These rooms were in varying states of disrepair with the large and splendid original rooms subdivided into several rooms, dilapidated showers leaking (causing damage and decay), and office style electrical trunking and fluorescent lighting spoiling the beauty beneath.
We designed 9 bedrooms and en-suites, including renovation of several original mosaic lined bathrooms with original fittings, sourcing bathroom fittings and tiling, bedroom furniture and fittings, accessories, creating colour schemes. We worked with upholsterers, curtain makers and a photographer to create bespoke items for the stunning rooms you can see here.
