Alexandra Cork Home Designs was appointed to create a new entrance and lounge area at Priston Mill, near Bath. Priston Mill is a well established wedding venue, with a beautiful Tythe Barn. The adjoining building was subdivided to create a small entrance area for the Tythe Barn, and an office facility. The entrance was not befitting of the large Tythe Barn, and became crowded when large parties arrived. In addition, the Barn lacked a lounge area, so the brief was to create a better entrance and lounge, to allow visitors easier access, better circulation space, and an area for drinks and relaxing.
The barn has a beautiful timber framed roof, which was mainly disguised by the office subdivisions, so this was revealed and stripped back to its original finish. The room was given tongue and groove panelling to dado level, and a large fireplace with wood burning stove gave the room a welcoming and comfortable centrepiece.
We also sourced artwork, furniture, accessories and some stunning lighting, and improved the exterior with a timber framed porch.
