‘We like the house, we like the area… we just need a bit more space’ .
The owners of this house in Emersons Green, felt this sentiment. They like living in Emersons Green- its quiet, leafy, well connected and has excellent schools and services. They liked their house- in a quiet cul de sac, but didn’t see it as their ‘forever house’, and weren’t ready quite yet to make the leap to it.
They just needed a bit more space- they have a young daughter, a pet dog, and both frequently work from home- so we set about designing a two storey extension to provide them with the additional space they required. The house had a single garage to the side, and this was the only area where extending was a possibility. The design involved removing the garage, but retaining a smaller section to the rear of it as a storage area, and created a much larger kitchen/dining area, allowing more space for their dining table, and a study area on the ground floor. On the first floor, a new bedroom was added, bringing the total to 4, and the family bathroom was reconfigured to provide access to it.
The owners have decorated the ground floor with a very on trend, fresh, yellow and bright white scheme, and classic white metro tiling for the bathroom upstairs.
The extension has given them everything they need for the next few years,- until they’re ready to move on. Emersons Green is a hugely popular area for families, and as the house is very close to the ever in demand Emersons Green Primary, adding more living space and a fourth bedroom is only ever going to add value to it.
