Sometimes I get to work for my friends, and its brilliant to be able to help someone I know design their home extension. When my good friend Lucy asked me to help her and her husband build a rear extension to their home, I was only too pleased to help. They’d recently bought a 1930’s house in Thornbury, which had been previously extended with a flat roofed add-on, which sat uncomfortably in the garden.
I got planning and building regulations for a one storey full width rear extension, which has created a spacious and light new dining room, kitchen and play room.
The kitchen is a subtle duck egg colour, and paired with classic cream metro tiles, the kitchen is now a stylish and well designed area right at the heart of the house. The large bi-folding patio doors and the 3 roof lights create a very light and bright dining room space (even on the gloomy day I visited!). The house now has a more modern and family-friendly layout, and the extension is far more thermally efficient than it previously was.
Lucy is a graphic designer, and designed my logo, although she mainly uses her great talents to design wedding stationary http://www.lucylovesweddings.blogspot.co.uk
